Delft is a township on the outskirts of Cape Town, South Africa. It is a densely populated township with just over 350 000 people.
Delft is known for high poverty rate due to unemployment. The COVID-19 pandemic has made matters worse exponentially due to scarcity of jobs and the lockdown. People are resorting to heavily rely on feeding schemes to have something filling from breakfast to supper time. Feeding schemes has become a essential service in the community of Delft as it is the only way most people has access to food.
I am Nakita Carelse from the community of Delft and working with OEC Foundation, we have setup the Delft Soup Kitchen which aims to alleviate the surge of hunger in the community of Delft by feeding at least 1000 children, women and men monthly and with you support we hope to do more.
Our Soup Kitchen provides a hearty filling meal along with a cup of juice to clean the pallet to children and adults. It is our passion to help alleviate hunger in this diverse township of Delft
